Press Conference ARTAINER
On Monday, May 5, 2025, the mobile art installation "Artainer" will embark on its journey from the forecourt of the state parliament.
The artist Jiny Lan will showcase her works in a repurposed deep-sea container designed as a gallery. The exhibition references the over 2000-year-old Chinese poem "Tianwen" ("Heavenly Questions") and explores fundamental questions about identity, society, and the human experience.
The artist Adrian Bedoy, whose work "Heritage" has been on display in the state parliament since 2020, complements the project with his "Perspectives" approach.
The next stop will take the exhibition to Essen, including a visit to the Zollverein Coal Mine. Following that, the journey will continue to the Chinese metropolis of Chongqing, which is a partner city of Düsseldorf, the capital city of North Rhine-Westphalia. The project has been developed under the artistic direction of Marcus Schäfer.
The President of the state parliament, André Kuper, honors the initiative as a contribution to cultural dialogue across borders. He will inaugurate the mobile exhibition together with artist Jiny Lan and project developer Marcus Schäfer.
